The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) Western Railway (WR) has released Notification No. RRC/WR/04/2025 for the engagement of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961, for the year 2025-26. This recruitment aims to fill 5,349 slots across various trades in divisions and workshops under Western Railway’s jurisdiction. Applications are invited online only.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age Limit (as on March 23, 2026): Minimum 15 years, maximum 24 years. Relaxations apply: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PwD, and up to 10 years additional for ex-servicemen (plus service length and 3 years, with minimum 6 months attested service).
  • Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th class) under the 10+2 system with at least 50% aggregate marks (excluding additional subjects like languages or extracurriculars). Must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT/SCVT.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit as per the Apprentices Act rules.

Application Fee

  • Rs. 100 (non-refundable) for general/OBC/EWS candidates.
  • Exempted for SC/ST/PwD/women candidates.
  • Payment via online modes (debit/credit card, net banking, UPI).

Selection Process

  • Merit list prepared based on the average percentage of marks obtained in matriculation (minimum 50%) and ITI examination, giving equal weightage to both.
  • No written test or interview/viva voce.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification and medical examination at allotted divisions/workshops.
  • In case of ties, older candidates are preferred.
